We will introduce a method to reduce the consumption of collectors - the method of enhancing the efficiency of emulsification technology of reagents.
After emulsification treatment, the collector can be evenly dispersed in water in the form of tiny droplets to form a relatively stable emulsion system. This process greatly increases the contact area between the collector and the mineral surface, allowing the collector to play a more full role, thereby reducing its dosage.
Operation method: Add the collector to the aqueous phase system containing an appropriate amount of water and dispersant, and use the agitator to rotate and stir at a specific speed. The shear force generated by the agitator disperses the collector into fine droplets to form an emulsion.
Case: In a certain iron ore flotation operation, the mechanical stirring emulsification technology is used to fully mix and stir the collector with water and dispersant, which reduces the amount of collector by about 18%, and at the same time improves the grade of the concentrate.
Operation method: With the help of an ultrasonic generator to generate a cavitation effect, the collector is dispersed into tiny droplets by using the strong impact force generated by the rapid collapse of tiny bubbles formed when ultrasonic waves propagate in the liquid, and then an emulsion is formed. In this process, it is necessary to accurately adjust the ultrasonic power and action time to control the particle size and stability of the emulsion.
Case: A lead-zinc mine introduced ultrasonic emulsification technology during the flotation process. By optimizing the ultrasonic parameters, the amount of collector was reduced by about 22%, and the flotation index was significantly improved.
Operation method: Add an appropriate amount of emulsifier to the collector and water system, and use the emulsifier to reduce the surface tension of the oil-water interface, so that the collector is easier to disperse into an emulsion. In this process, the appropriate emulsifier must be carefully selected and its dosage must be strictly controlled. At the same time, the potential impact of the emulsifier on the flotation process must be considered.
Case: A gold mine flotation operation uses chemical emulsification technology. After selecting a specific emulsifier, the amount of collector was reduced by about 15%, and there was no negative impact on the flotation index.
The emulsification technology can make the collector more evenly distributed in the slurry, increase its contact with the minerals, and improve the collection efficiency. A large number of practices have shown that after the use of emulsification technology, the collector consumption can be reduced by 15%-30%, while helping to improve the concentrate grade and recovery rate.
