Driven by a new round of strategic actions for mineral exploration breakthroughs, the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources, in conjunction with geological exploration units and mining companies in various provinces, has launched a nationwide concentrated mineral exploration campaign and achieved a series of major breakthroughs in Sichuan, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Jiangxi, Inner Mongolia and other places. The newly added resources of spodumene-type, salt lake-type and lithium mica-type lithium mines all exceed 10 million tons, increasing China's share of global lithium reserves from 6% to 16.5%, and its ranking has jumped from sixth to second.

The newly discovered world-class spodumene-type lithium mineralization belt of West Kunlun-Songpan-Ganzi, which is 2.800 kilometers long, has accumulated more than 6.5 million tons of proven resources and a resource potential of more than 30 million tons, greatly enriching the types of lithium mines in China, expanding the scope of mineral exploration, and providing new directions and potential for China's lithium mine exploration and development.

After investigation and evaluation, China's new salt lake lithium resources reached more than 14 million tons, making it the world's third largest salt lake lithium resource base after the South American Lithium Triangle and the western United States.

Overcoming the technical difficulties of lithium extraction from lepidolite in Jiangxi and other regions has improved the utilization efficiency and economy of lepidolite-type lithium mines, and the new resources have exceeded 10 million tons. The China Geological Survey said that this breakthrough will promote the formation of a new prospecting situation in Hunan, Inner Mongolia and other regions, and become an important growth point for lithium resources.
