Introduction

Introduction

Black medicine is a general term for a large class of flotation reagents. It is an excellent collector and frother for non-ferrous metal ores. The chemical name of black medicine is dialkyl dithiophosphoric acid (salt). Its acid is generally a black liquid, its sodium, potassium or ammonium salt is a dark brown liquid, and the solid black medicine is a white powder. Direct sunlight or heat can decompose it, so it should be stored in a cool place. The main varieties are butyl ammonium black medicine, butyl sodium black medicine, 25# black medicine and aniline black medicine.

Butyl ammonium black medicine can be used as a collector for sulfide ores such as copper, lead, zinc, and nickel, and has certain foaming properties. It has a good collection ability for some difficult-to-select ores such as black copper ore. Compared with yellow medicine, its collection ability is weaker, but its selectivity is good. At the same time, it is relatively stable in acidic media. When the medium is not suitable for yellow medicine, it can be replaced by black medicine. 25# black medicine is an excellent collector and frother for sulfide ores with good selectivity. In alkaline ore solution, it has only a weak collection ability for pyrite, so it is suitable for flotation of other metal sulfide ores containing a large amount of pyrite.
